Good Things Festival is an Australian alternative music festival held annually in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane over one weekend each December. Established by a team of seasoned industry professionals who have promoted, booked, and managed most of Australia’s major music festivals over the past 20 years, Good Things aims to fill a gap in the market by showcasing the best local, national, and international bands in world-class venues with high-level production.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

Good Things Festival (GTF) in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane is a licensed event for a mature audience 16+. 

All patrons aged under 18 are required to provide Photo ID to enter the venue and provide information on the emergency contact details for a parent or guardian when purchasing a ticket

The accepted forms of photo Identification are as follows:

  • Valid Australian driver’s license or learner permit (digital or physical)
  • Valid Passport (domestic or international)
  • Valid state/territory proof of age cards
  • Valid Keypass (digital or physical)
  • Valid Australian student ID card

Patrons aged 16 and 17 will be permitted to attend independently, provided they present valid photo identification.

Alcohol service will remain strictly restricted to patrons aged 18 and over, with licenced areas controlled through age verification and secure wristbanding.

Minor patrons will be excluded from all bar zones. Their safety will be supported through clearly identifiable wristbands, staffed minor welfare posts, and active RSA monitoring to ensure compliance with State specific liquor and child safety regulations.

Any minor caught consuming alcohol will be handed to the Police.

The event has the capacity to be very loud, have high intensity crowd movements, bands that may use profanities in their performance and patrons drinking alcohol. Patrons under the age of 16 will not be admitted as GTF cannot guarantee the health and safety of small children.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION @ GOOD THINGS

You must have present valid Photo ID to enter. All patrons must have a valid ticket and it is an offence to enter the venue without a ticket.

Photo ID is required to purchase alcohol regardless of your age. It is illegal to provide minors with alcohol and anyone caught doing so may be prosecuted and ejected from the event.

Some of the artists appearing at Good Things may use lyrics, language or gestures whilst entertaining that some people may find offensive. If such language or behaviour concerns you, please do not attend. If you believe such language or behaviour is unsuitable for minors, please do not allow them to attend.

Remember to bring photo ID, your ticket, important phone numbers, sun block, any medication you may need, a hat and charged mobile phone. If you have any chronic conditions or illness (ie. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy) be sure to carry information regarding your condition & emergency contact number on you at all times. If you require prescription medication during the festival, please ensure you carry a copy of your prescription, keep the medication in its prescribed packaging, and only bring in the amount you require during your time at Good Things Festival.

Allow enough time to get to & into the show. It can take some time to get through the gates & security checks depending on the time of day so please be patient.

Make sure you dress in accordance with the weather forecast, wear sensible shoes & clothes.  

We have been told to expect the constabulary and canine associates to make one of their customary festival appearances. You may be sniffed at inside and outside the show and even at car parks or public transport hubs. Possession and/or consumption of illegal substances will not be allowed.

Any patron found to be unduly intoxicated or under the influence of drugs on arrival or within the venue will be referred to police or security as the case may be.

A small bag (No more than A4 size) or backpack is allowed but remember that it must be searched and take longer to enter the event & if you want to cloak it in, it will add more queues and cost to your experience.

Check the ticket conditions for prohibited  items such as Video cameras, alcohol & umbrellas. No spike collars, studded belts etc will be permitted .

Make sure you pace yourself, drink plenty of water, eat some food that will give you some energy & be sure to get rest, when you can, to maximise your enjoyment on the day.

You are permitted to bring 1 empty water bottle and a reasonable amount of food like sandwiches to the show. However, please do remember that we’re most likely in for a long day and food can spoil. There will be free water stations located within the event site to refill your empty bottles once inside.

 

SECURITY AND SAFETY @ GOOD THINGS

Whether it’s entering, leaving or in the festival you will be required to abide by any reasonable request or command from event security. Remember that they are there to keep the entire festival safe. 

If you need help or see someone needing help please notify security straight away. At each event there will be a dedicated text line to report any anti social behaviour 

Good Things will be promoting our new messaging this year to focus on patron safety and education to ensure we have a safe and inclusive environment for all patrons

Zero Tolerance for sexual and gender based harassment and any violence

Good Things will not accept violence in any form and any incident of harassment and violence will result in immediate removal from the site.

Safe Environment Commitment

Good Things is also committed to delivering a safe environment for patrons, staff and performers. Good Things Festival takes reports of sexual and/or gender based assault, and harassment at events very seriously and this is supported by comprehensive policies, procedures, and staff education and training.

Serious Response to Reports

We treat all reports of sexual assault, gender-based assault, and harassment with the utmost seriousness. Our response protocols prioritise survivor support while ensuring appropriate action is taken. If you need support, or see someone who needs support, please see the Emergency Chat feature of our app or notify security immediately.

Emergency Chat Feature

The Good Things app includes an emergency chat function that connects you directly to our event team. Use this feature if you experience any antisocial behavior or feel unsafe during the festival. The chat operates through a secure, closed Wi-Fi network dedicated exclusively to emergency communications.

Emergency Alert System

Our emergency feature includes a strobe alert button that activates your phone's flashlight and vibration to alert nearby staff and security personnel in case of an emergency. This ensures rapid response when you need immediate assistance.

Safe Space

We provide a dedicated Safe Space located near the First Aid area where patrons can report incidents in a confidential and supportive environment. Our trained staff are available to assist you with any concerns or incidents that occur during the festival with the utmost respect and privacy

 

REJECTION OF ENTRY OR EJECTION FROM EVENT

Crowd surfing, moshing & circle dancing are dangerous activities & will not be tolerated. Offenders will either be banned from the area or possibly removed from the site.

Security staff are entitled to search; pat down or metal detect any patron upon entry. Any person not compliant will be refused entry or removed from the event without refund.

Access to the event is prohibited or refused to people who:

  • Are clearly under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other stimulant.
  • Illustrate behaviour that intends to disturb public peace or to provoke assault.
  • Intentionally attempt to conceal prohibited items with the intent to bypass security screening.
  • Are wearing gang related colours, Hi-vis clothing, or attempting to resemble any staff member; including unauthorized media vests, or uniforms that impersonate emergency service personnel.
  • Are from un-authorized media outlets.

Only authorised and fully accredited media approved by the Marketing and Publicity departments are permitted at the Good Things Festival.

Any media or persons found to be carrying media equipment (microphones, recording devices, camera etc) or deliberately deceiving staff will be removed and banned from GTF for an indefinite period.

If you are evicted from the event, you will not be allowed re-entry and your ticket will not be refunded.

 

EMERGENCY EVACUATION

Under extreme & unlikely circumstances; a building, area or the entire site may be required to be evacuated or cleared. It will be imperative for you to follow all instructions & directions from emergency services, police, fire brigade and/or the security that would be requested of you in such a situation. Remember these people are only there to help, so please pay attention and take note of emergency exits on our patron map (coming soon).

 

FIRST AID

There will be First Aid located at or next to the Stages to treat people who are genuinely ill or have injured themselves on the day. Try to minimise your demands on them if it does not relate to real issues as they have a very long and demanding day. More than 50% of all First Aid Calls are related to cut feet and sunburn – please wear shoes and bring sunblock.

 

CAN I BRING A CAMERA

No professional photography equipment is permitted however point and click cameras and mobile phones are fine. No recording devices of any kind will be permitted

 

FREE WATER STATIONS

There will be free water stations located around the site. Please ask security or consult the site map.

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Large crowds & extremely heavy traffic is expected in and around venues on event day.

A high number of patrons are expected to be attending the event so it’s essential to plan your trip in advance and work out how you are getting to and from the Good Things Festival.

ACCESSIBILITY

GTF will be an accessible friendly event as much as we can possibly make it. There will be accessible viewing areas where possible at each stage area. Disabled toilets are available around the site. We suggest that you are accompanied by a friend as with all major events navigating through the crowds can be difficult. As long as you plan your day and leave a bit of extra time to move between stages there is absolutely no reason why you should not have a great day and be able to see the bands you love. CARERS

We understand that some people have a need for a full time carer. GTF will allow a valid ticket holder one free entry ticket for their legitimate carer. 

Upon presentation of a Companion Card, ticket purchasers are entitled to an additional ticket for their respective carer.

The Companion Card must be presented alongside the issued ticket to gain entry to the event.

Dedicated entry lanes at both entry gates will be available to those in possession of a Disability Card or Companion Card.

Guide Dogs are permitted on festival grounds to valid Disability Card or Companion Card holders

CONCESSIONS

GTF believes we are all equal. There will be no discounted tickets for pensioners or members of the venue association etc.

 

SMOKING

The venue may be subject to state public smoking law enforced by state health authorities. If so, Designated smoking areas will be available for patrons to smoke. Please don’t smoke in or around the venue except in designated areas.

 

LITTER

The local Council has laws to discourage people from littering on the street. Note that previous events have had council inspectors issuing on the spot fines to patrons who are outside the venue on the way in. This includes drink containers and smoking butts.

 

PASS OUTS

There are STRICTLY NO PASS OUTS (Exit and Re-entry) for this event. Last entry to the event is 21:00

 

CLOAK ROOM

There will be a cloak room on site to check in your bags however it will cost you to take the bag in and out again each time.

There are also lockers available at the event.

Bsafe mobile lockers are available for purchase pre-event and are flat $25 for the duration of the event.

The locker dimensions are 450mm deep X 230mm high X 340mm wide.

Upon arrival at the festival simply attend the Bsafe Mobile Lockers post, provide your name and your locker and key will be provided to you at the marquee.

The key is yours to keep for the entire festival and to be returned at the end of the festival. Please note lost keys will incur a fee of $30 for replacement of the key.

Cloaking for Prohibited Items excluding illicit substances can be cloaked externally at the cloakroom located alongside the entry Gates  the charge for prohibited cloaking items is $10 per item.

Good Things Festival will not take responsibility for cloaked items.

Please ensure you keep your ID on you at all times for bar service.
